// How to use this template
04 steps
01

Triage every new bug within 24 hours

New reports land in Triage. Within a day, reproduce the issue, assess severity, and either move it to High Priority or leave it queued. Unactionable reports get a comment and stay in Triage.

02

Prioritize by impact, not by noise

High Priority is for bugs affecting paying customers, data integrity, or security. A cosmetic glitch reported five times stays in Triage. Severity labels keep the signal clear.

03

Always verify in Testing before resolving

A bug is not fixed until it is tested. Move cards to Testing after the patch ships and confirm the fix in staging or production. Only then does it move to Resolved.

04

Review Triage weekly to prevent buildup

Old bugs in Triage rot. Set a weekly review to close stale reports, merge duplicates, and promote anything that has grown in severity. A clean Triage column is an honest backlog.

// FAQ
03 questions
01

How is a bug tracker board different from a regular kanban board?

+

A bug tracker board replaces generic task columns with defect-specific stages: Triage, High Priority, In Progress, Testing, and Resolved. This workflow ensures every bug is assessed for severity before work begins and verified before closure.

02

Should I track bugs and features on the same board?

+

Separate boards work best. Feature work has different cadence and prioritization criteria than bug fixes. Use this bug tracker board for defects and a kanban or sprint board for features. Link between them with card references when needed.

03

How do I handle urgent production bugs?

+

Tag them with the Urgent label and move them directly to High Priority, bypassing Triage. Assign immediately and track in the In Progress column. After resolution, do a post-mortem and add a card for any preventive work.
